Antioxidants are fundamental in warding off any potentially harmful agents and are known to counteract any damaging oxidation done by our bodies cells. They are a definite immune enhancer for our body. In fact, many health problems such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease are known to be from a result of oxidative damage. Thus, antioxidants enhance our bodies immune system to ward off these antigens.
The foods that are high in antioxidants, are usually very bright and colourful, like berries, carrots, peppers, kale, and oranges, just to name a few. Antioxidants are also found in different types of foods, such as nuts, grains and seafood. However, it’s sometimes hard to consume handfuls of these foods daily, so that’s why I chose to invest in a whole-body antioxidant supplement, shown below. This comes in powder form and contains an abundance of nutrients derived from various herbal extracts, fruit concentrates, and other essential vitamins. I find that I drink this more in the fall and winter, when fresh fruits and vegetables are not as readily available.
