These days I’ve been quite off schedule, as my family and I are in the process of moving. My life is packed away, and we’re ready for the big move, finally. We’ll be at the new home in a few days, so next week will be filled with lots of cleaning and unpacking. I just can’t wait to get to the organizing part; arranging the pantry, assembling my clothes in my new closet, then of course comes the decorating. Hopefully, we’ll be all settled in before December.
I think I’ve packed just about everything now, even most of our kitchen ceramics and cutlery are stored away in boxes. Moving is definitely an exciting experience, but it’s also very draining. The next post will most-likely be made at the new place, can’t wait! I’m most excited to make my first meal in our new kitchen, but until then, I’m stuffing myself with easy meals, ones that are quick, nutritious, and filling. One meal that saves my hunger and I quite a bit, is a loaded cereal bowl. There’s no cooking required, it’s pretty instant, and completely satisfying.
This is my absolute favourite combination for cereal ingredients. I’ve eaten this for months and months and I’m still not sick of it. It’s that good. And did I mention how healthy it is? Chia and hemp seeds are both superfoods that contain an amplitude of essential fats. Hemp seeds also offer the much-needed protein to start the day off right, as they contain all the required amino acids. And if you’re a chocolate lover like me, you’ll understand why I love to add the superfood, cacao nibs. Not only do they add a boost of vital antioxidants, but they add a rich, chocolatey taste, without any guilt, that’s for sure. This bowl has loads of nutrients, including fibre, which is beneficial for proper colon health. In terms of sweetness, I prefer using organic honey, as I find is has such a comforting taste, especially when mixed with almond milk. Oh and let’s not forget to mention how much I adore almond milk. To learn more about the benefits of this delicious nut milk, check out my post Make the Switch to Almond Milk.
I want to mention that it’s very important to start your day off right, so having a complete meal, one that has good quality protein, vitamins and minerals, is ideal. If you’re not so much a chocolate lover like myself, try swapping the cacao nibs with dried fruit, such as goji berries, or even some fresh fruit. It’s important you don’t ‘fuel’ your body, especially first thing in the morning, with hydrogenated oils, artificial colours and sweeteners, and other unnecessary additives.
